Lebanon’s Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri met with Imam Khamenei stressing that he and Hezbollah Secretary General Sayyed Hasan Nasrallah are in full coordination and harmony on all issues.
According to As-Safir newspaper, Imam Khamenei expressed gladness at this unified vision, saying: “You are succeeding because you are united. The steadfastness of Iran, the resistance and opposition played a decisive role in the results achieved in the nuclear issue. We triumphed and we will achieve more victories.”
Berri, who arrived Iran on an official visit Sunday, held talks Monday with Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Khamanei, Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani and President Sheikh Hasan Rouhani.
On Tuesday, he continued his meetings with officials in Iran, holding morning talks with the secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, Ali Shamkhani.
The two discussed challenges facing the Middle East, with Berri stressing on the need to “counter the plot of strife and fragmentation in the region, including for Lebanon.”
During the talks, Berri brought up the subject of missing Lebanese Imam Sayyed Musa Sadr, the founder of the Amal Movement, and expressed hope that Iran would help in the case.
In a Monday meeting with Larijani, Berri welcomed the nuclear agreement between Tehran and six major world powers, saying it will open new horizons to Iran and regional countries.
Berri expressed condolences for the terrorist attacks outside the Iranian Embassy in Beirut and said countries which support terrorism in the region seek to create tension in Lebanon. “Supporters of terrorism in the region which sustained a defeat in Syria intend to inflict damage on Iran, Syria and Lebanon as the axis of resistance,” Berri said.
The Lebanese resistance will never allow anybody to pose any threat to the security and peace of the people in Lebanon, he added.
Larijani, for his part, said certain world powers and the Israeli regime are trying to cause concern among regional countries over the recent developments. He also hailed Lebanon’s stellar role in the course of resistance in the region, adding that it has attracted the attention of Islamic countries.
Berri also met President Rouhani and talks focused on the current regional and international situations and the nuclear deal between Iran and world powers. Sheikh Rouhani hoped the visit will "contribute to enhancing ties between the two countries," underlining Iran's keenness on Lebanon, according to the National News agency.
