Iranian FM spokeswoman Marzieh Afkham said Sunday the death of terrorist attack suspect in Lebanon would not disparage Iran from pursuing the case.
“Even if the story is genuine, it would not disparage us from pursuing the case legally in international courts,” said Afkham following the stories released in the media about Saudi Arabian citizen, Majed al-Majed, who was the major suspect in terrorist attacks in the vicinity of Iran’s embassy in Beirut late November.
“The Islamic Republic of Iran as the main victim of the terrorist attack demands that the perpetrators and mastermind behind the attacks be identified, tried and punished,” she added.
The terrorist attack killed 2 embassy staffs and injured many Lebanese passers-by.
Afkham asserted that the international community should act honestly in line with its responsibility to deal with the terrorist attacks and arrange the necessary legal mechanisms for identifying the providers of intelligence, logistics, and financial support to such terrorist circles and emphasize on the responsibility of the countries in cooperation in uprooting the scourge of terrorism.
