Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Arab and African Affairs Hossein Amir Abdollahian said he has had a "constructive" meeting with Saudi Crown Prince Salman bin Abdulaziz al-Saud in Cairo.

Abdollahian met the Saudi crown prince on the sidelines of the inaugural ceremony of Egypt's new President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi on Monday.

"The meeting with the Saudi crown prince on the sidelines of the new Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi's swearing-in ceremony was constructive," Amir Abdollahian said on Tuesday.

The Iranian diplomat said that he and the Saudi prince conveyed the greetings of the Iranian President and the Saudi King to each other, and underlined that Tehran and Riyadh want stability and progress for the two countries and the entire region.

Abdullahian Stresses Good Ties with Cairo, Underlines Egypt’s Role in the Region

Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Amir Abdollahian said that "Egypt's security and stability leads to stability in the region."

In a press conference after participating in the swearing-in ceremony of Egyptian President-Elect General Abdulfattah Al-Sisi on Monday, representing the Iranian President, Abdollahian noted that Tehran follows the developments in Egypt precisely.
"We in Iran assume (presidential) election in Egypt as a step forward and believe that Egypt won't return to its previous conditions," he said.

"Some foreign partners aim to disturb the good relations between Iran and other regional states, Abdollahian added, stating that Iran is ready to increase cooperation with Egyptian government and nation," the Iranian official added.
He urged active presence of all Egyptian political groups in their country's reconstruction process, adding that Egypt's presidential elections was a step forward.

"Tehran is ready to help Cairo in all fields and expand relations with Egypt based on mutual respect," he asserted.

The Iranian diplomat also underlined Egypt's pivotal role in the region and the Muslim world.

Expressing his satisfaction with the current relations between Iran and all regional states including Saudi Arabia, he noted that Tehran is keen to increase the level of ties with them, indicating that all regional states including Egypt, Iran and the Persian Gulf littoral states have common interests in securing the regions stability.
He underscored that Irans support for Hamas in the occupied Palestine is Tehrans support for the Palestinian nation and this issue should not harm Tehran-Egypt relations.

He added that Iran will not give up its right for peaceful use of nuclear energy but will continue constructive talks with G5+1.

Last week, Egypts Interim President Adly Mansour sent an invitation to his Iranian counterpart to take part in the swearing-in ceremony.

President Rouhani was unable to attend the ceremony due to his pre-planned trip to Turkey on Monday.

Sisi took the oath of office before the High Constitutional Court on Sunday morning to become Egypt's ninth president.
