The story of the Holy Prophet with his Jewish neighbor is too well known . The Holy Prophet never tried to talk his neighbor into religion but he definitely won his heart . The Jewish Neighbor was inimical and used to throw his garbage everyday in front of the Holy Prophet’s door and the Holy Prophet would collect the garbage and throw it out each day until, one day , the Holy Prophe...t found no garbage in front of his door and became worried about what might have happened to his neighbor , he knocked at his door and made sure he was doing well . This is how the Jewish neighbor got to know Islam and embraced it seeing the mercy in the Prophet of all Muslims .
Another story talks about Imam ‘Ali who was then a Caliph over the Muslims , how one day on his way to battle he lost his armor that had slipped from his horse inadvertently . After few days the Imam returned to his home town to find his armor in the possession of a Jewish trader . The Imam recognized the armor and claimed it as his and told the Jewish trader to give it back to him which the Jewish trader refused to do saying that the armor was in his possession and that it was his . The Imam insisted on having his armor back and the Jewish trader insisted on keeping it . Upon the traders’ request the Imam then went to the judge to ask him to look into the matter , the judge asked the Imam whether he had any proof that the armor belonged to him to which the Imam answered that he will bring his son al Hassan to testify for him . The judge then said that he cannot accept the son to testify for his father, and that the caliph should bring some witness to which the Imam objected saying that his son- al Hassan –according to his grand pa the Holy prophet- was the prince of the youths of the heavens and that his testimony could be taken for this reason because he would not lie ; but still, the judge refused his objection and told him that -according to the law- a son is not to testify for his father and that the armor had to remain in the Jewish trader’s possession . This is when the Jewish trader got to know Islam and embraced it as a religion that does not favor the caliph and ruler of all Muslims over a single Jewish individual .
