A large crowd of people from Al-Qusayr and neighboring villages celebrated on Sunday the restoration of security in the city, which borders Lebanon. The participants expressed confidence in the full capacity of the Syrian army to deal with terrorism and foil the conspiracies aimed at weakening Syria's pivotal role in the region. The demonstrators waved Syrian flags and chanted nationalistic slogans while marching through the streets of Qusayr. Governor of Homs Ahmad Munir Mohammad emphasized that promoting victory in Qusayr would be by reconstructing what terrorists ravaged and by revitalizing public institutions and services. Mohammad indicated that the institutions and concerned departments have begun cleaning, debris removal, rehabilitation and rebuilding. Former Lebanese MP, Hassan Yaacoub, who also participated in the demonstration, said that Syria's enemies sought to destroy it but failed “due to the steadfastness of the Syrian people and bravery of the Syrian army.” | ||||
