Syrian President Bashar al-Assad said that Damascus will not abandon its national principles, stressing it will not refrain from supporting the resistance and it will not relinquish its right to retake its occupied land.

According to the Jordanian writer, Saud Qubailat, who met with the Syrian leader in Damascus, “it is clear that Assad feels his country will overcome” the current conflict and that “this evil game played by the West and its supporters has reached its final stage.”

Opening Front of Golan Serious

President Assad stressed that opening the front of Golan is a very serious issue. He said that Damascus was not thinking about a formal resistance that aimlessly launches some shells on the enemy, granting it (enemy) the initiative and the effectual act, Qubailat said in an article published by Lebanese daily al-Akhbar on Monday.

However, President Assad said that this resistance should be well-planned, well-trained, continuous, and effective. He said that this resistance must always be keen to own the initiative and to define the field of the battle in a way that serves its struggle and hurts its enemy... such as the resistance of Hezbollah in south Lebanon.
Meanwhile, Qubailat said that Assad “knows how much the enemies were successful as they tried to deform his image.”
However, President Assad “doesn’t care for this unjust personal attack launched against him,” Qubailat said .
“What is important for him (Assad) is Syria. He is ready for all forms of sacrifice in order for his country not to fall into the hands of US, Zionists and their followers of the Gulf States and Takfiris.”

Western Countries Offering Cooperation

“The Western countries, in contrast with what is announced, are now in race to grant, behind the scenes, offers that seek to ensure its companies’ shares in the contracting works of rebuilding Syria and extracting oil and gas,” he said.
In this context, the Jordanian writer said that the World Bank offered Damascus an easy loan of $21 bn to rebuild Syria, but noted that President Assad has refused.

Massive Destruction

“What concerns Assad now is to deal with the post-war era, especially how to deal with the massive destruction the country has witnessed, and how to treat the injuries of the Syrians who lost their beloved ones, homes, livelihood or wealth.”
According to Qubailat, the major worry Assad is facing related to another kind of destruction, which is the intensification of the Sectarianism in Syria and Arab countries, “something that represents a serious threat for the nation, its existence, entity and future.”

No Great Results from Geneva 2

Concerning the outcomes of the planned international conference on Syria, Geneva 2, President Assad said he was not optimistic that the meeting would lead to great results because "the other side who is sitting for talks is not capable of taking decisions on behalf of the armed groups" fighting the Syrian government.
The Syrian leader also noted that the opposition sides, inside and outside Syria, are divided due to many disputes, according to Qubailat.
